Gold Coast filmmakers, professionals and emerging talent, have been gathering at S.T.A.R.S. meetings, dinners and special events for the past 15 years. Our objective for these evenings is to provide an aesthetically pleasing and fun atmosphere to meet others interested in the craft of filmmaking. At the same time to share resources, skills, experience and collaborate on movie projects. We are dedicated to assisting filmmakers and writers by providing guest speakers and networking events especially tailored to the interest of the Gold Coast film industry. If you are interested in any aspect of filmmaking or writing then S.T.A.R.S. offers you the opportunity to mix with friendly, like-minded people and gain support and advice from professionals in many related fields.

S.T.A.R.S. was formed in 1997 and was originally called the Screen Writers And Actors Guild (S.W.A.G.). It held monthly dinners around the Gold Coast for professionals only. In 2000 it was decided to give the interested public and emerging talent the benefit of the wealth of experience from our world class professional members by providing meetings with industry speakers, workshops and special events for members to show off their talents. To acknowledge this upgrade in format we changed our name to the Screen Theatre And wRiters Studios (S.T.A.R.S.).
